Fourth Semester

Fourth Semester and the Defence of the Master’s Thesis

The fourth semester of the LAWGID programme is entirely dedicated to the preparation and defence of the Master’s Thesis and carries 30 ECTS.

Thesis topic, supervision and registration

At the end of the third semester, LAWGID students:

  • decide on the topic and preliminary title of their Master’s Thesis, and
  • are assigned a supervisor.

All students are required to register their thesis topic and preliminary title online via the LAWGID website.
This ensures that all partner universities have full insight into the list of registered Master’s Theses.

Members of the LAWGID Consortium Management Board (LCMB) keep hard copy records of registered Master’s Theses at each partner university.

Place of thesis preparation and defence

  • LAWGID scholarship holders, who are all enrolled at the University of Belgrade, are distributed among UB, LUMSA and ORU for the purposes of working on their Master’s Thesis.
  • LAWGID non-scholarship students:
    • enrolled at UB normally write and defend their Master’s Thesis at UB,
    • enrolled at LUMSA normally write and defend their Master’s Thesis at LUMSA,
    • enrolled at ORU normally write and defend their Master’s Thesis at ORU.

If a student wishes to write and defend the Master’s Thesis at one of the other partner universities, they may submit a request to the LCMB.
Such requests will be approved provided that no organisational or financial obstacles exist.

  • LAWGID scholarship holders are expected to complete:
    • study and research work,
    • preparation,
    • drafting and defence of the Master’s Thesis
by 30 September of the second academic year of the two-year LAWGID programme.
